citizen

i am not white–
i am human.
i am not less than
because i am a woman.
i am not a daughter,
but a daughter of God.
i am not home
although this ground i trod.
i do not know,
but i know Who does;
i cannot love
but for Love that first Was.
i am not a wife, mother,
teacher, or friend,
but for Him Who has no end.
i am not a student,
but a student of the Word.
i am not a lover,
but a lover of the Lord.
i am not sin
but for Him Who took it from me,
yet i cannot win
without the Power from above me.
i am not a Christian
but for Christ.
i am only anything
for Jesus’ work in my life.
i am nothing,
yet i am more;
God’s riches are mine
so i am not poor.
i am not single,
for i never am alone.
i am not sad
if i rejoice in the Lord.
i am naught
in the face of I AM,
yet i am not nothing
because HE IS.
i am not condemned–
i am forgiven.
i am not american,
but a citizen of heaven.
